“I was always intrigued by a good ghost story growing up. I even had a good friend who sincerely believed his own house to be haunted, and I could never resist hearing one of his scary stories. Even in broad daylight, I remember getting goose bumps and feeling a chill run down my spine every time he’d talk of blankets flying off the bed up toward the ceiling and unseen hands choking him in his bed at night. The fascination with ghosts persisted into my teens when I spent many evenings out ghost hunting with friends in the suburbs of Chicago. The fear that infused me on those nights was exhilarating. So when I had the opportunity to write a book about all the greatest ghost stories of the Chicago area, I couldn’t wait to get started.”

I was always intrigued by a good ghost story growing up…

I’ve collected several magazine articles about ghosts, so when I heard about Regis Philbin to be on Celebrity Ghost Stories, I knew he was going to talk about his night at the Whaley House. However, I heard about Mickey Ronney and Phyllis Diller, I was expecting two very different stories. I have an article that Mickey was once filming a dance scene with Ava Gardner and thought Judy Garland’s spirit returned to say goodbye through her. One of Benny Hill’s bios reports he was friends with Phyllis Diller and that they exchanged letters constantly. When he passed away, she felt it. Here’s to hoping Blake Clark and Billy Ray Cyrus appear on CGS, I’d love to hear their ghost stories straight from them.
Best Wishes-
